We also encourage and welcome Corporate Members of Solway Credit Union. So not only individuals, but also Companies, Groups, Charities and Organisations can join and support the credit union.
Our Common Bond (which refers to Nithsdale, the Stewartry and Annandale & Eskdale) now states in legal terms that we can open our membership to:
‘a body corporate, an individual in his/her capacity as a partner in a partnership, an individual in his/her capacity as an officer or a member of the governing body of an unincorporated association, if the body corporate, partnership or unincorporated association has a place of business in the above locality’
There are limits on the volume of Corporate Members we can admit, such that they are only able to make up a maximum of 10% of the credit union’s total membership, or hold a maximum of 25% of shares in the credit union and be granted a maximum of 10% of loans.
Corporate Members can choose to invest in either Ordinary Shares – ownership of which will bring all the benefits of credit union membership, or Deferred Shares, which will only be repayable in restricted circumstances and which will count towards the capital of a credit union.
For further details, please contact us with any queries you might have. Our contact details can be found at the top of the page.
You can download a Corporate Membership Application here.
